My laptop’s disque dur is dying. It encore fonctionne (boots Windows 7, run some programmes), but it is obviously damaged. Je suis buying a nouveau one to replace it.

Usually vous pouvez activate the same copy of windows about 3 times avant vous allez be forced to call the activation line to do the processus. Cependant, if vous êtes reinstalling on identical (or nearly identical; changing the disque dur devrait être fine) matériel, there’s no point in wasting a reactivation, so c’est good to be able to back it up directly. Il y a two ways you could do this.
Si vous want to do a full reinstall, it is possible to back up your activation fichiers beforehand, and ensuite restore them once the reinstall is done. I did this récemment using these instructions, and it was super easy. To summarize (avec some of my own rewording and clarification):
Back up
%WINDIR%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform\tokens.dat
Back up
%WINDIR%\System32\spp\tokens\pkeyconfig\pkeyconfig.xrm-ms
If using Windows 7 x64, also back up
%WINDIR%\SysWOW64\spp\tokens\pkeyconfig\pkeyconfig.xrm-ms
Vous allez need administrative
privileges to copy these fichiers, and
may need to take ownership du

Once you have backed all of those up,
go ahead and reinstall. When prompted
to enter your clé de produit during
installer, leave it blank, and choose to
activate later. Once the installer is
done:
Arrêtez le logiciel protection service by running net stop sppsvc

Restore each du fichiers you backed up avant vers leir original
locations

Finally, redémarrer. Your système should be
activated; vous pouvez check this by going
to Système Properties from My Ordinateur.
The method which I would en fait advise is to do a full image backup. Si vous have an external disque dur, ensuite vous pouvez go vers le Backup and Restore panneau de configuration and choose to “Créez un système image”. Cela va make a copy of tout sur votre système, which vous pouvez ensuite restore onvers le nouveau disque dur using the recovery tools depuis le installer disk. J’ai fait this avant également, and it fonctionne great - when I had an hdd die, I put in a nouveau one and had tout back to exactly how it was avant right away when I restored the système image.
