Can anyone confirm/deny the validity duse methods or make suggestions on comment better accomplish activation après a reinstall? Je suis mainly concerned avec XP depuis the information J’ai found is rather scattered and Je sun’est pas sure if its possible to activate a “royalty free OEM” using a generic OEM/retail disk installer and Windows Key Mise à jour Tool or si je would need to use one du old methods of backing up the fichiers and altering the installer disk.

If il y a any known problems with activation on any version using the windows images/techniques I listed can quelqu’a veuillez elaborate on lem. Je suis asking because I started a new job that requires re-l’installation every version of windows on various ordinateurs that have OEM and retail versions.

The information I gathered on various forums is rather scattered and contradicting, c’est why Je suis posting this seemingly stupid question that vous pouvez think a été answered a million times. I want quelqu’un to give me a definitive response so I ne screw someones ordinateur up by supprimer necessary OEM fichiers.

XP

To installer on “royalty free OEM” machines (HP, DELL, etc.) vous pouvez get the vendor’s oembios fichiers from the oembios repository, or backed up depuis le current installation.

You ensuite need to use the SLP (système locked preinstallation) clé that corresponds vers le installation media’s product ID. These used to be archived sur le My Digital Life forums, but were taken down due to DMCA request. Je ne suis pas sûr si le particular vendor clé is required, or if those provided by Microsoft will work. Si vous encore have the original installation depuis le OEM, vous pouvez extract the SLP clé they used for installation depuis le registry using a tool like produkey.

(Most antivirus seems to complain about produkey, but I’ve jamais had problèmes avec it.)

nLite can help you créer the ISO and be very useful for testing in a VM, but c’est quite a bit more difficult to test the SLP activation avec the VM.
