Everything seems useless. I even tried fully resetting my pc, System Recovery only shows one drive that says “Windows update” that was selectable and then it asked me to make a security backup, when I did, it still not worked. Everything was useless i tried reinstalling via USB and it just resets. Ever since I tried entering the Recovery screen it boots directly to the Recovery screen. If I shut my PC it says “Your computer ran into a problem and needs to restart.” Every other troubleshoot option is not working it either says that it ran into an error or it just shuts down my PC.
The system is in a non-bootable state and Windows RE (Automatic Repair) is looping. Use Windows Recovery Environment and, if needed, external installation media to repair or reinstall.
Follow these steps in order:
-
Force the PC into Windows Recovery Environment (if it is not already there)
- Turn the device on and wait for the Windows or manufacturer logo
- As soon as the logo appears, press and hold the power button until the device shuts down
- Repeat this forced shutdown two times
- Turn it on a third time; it should display Automatic Repair > select Advanced options
-
Try System Restore from WinRE
- In Windows RE, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore
- Choose a restore point from before the problem started and complete the wizard
- If System Restore succeeds, restart and see if Windows boots normally
-
If Startup Repair and System Restore both fail
- In Windows RE, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair and let it run once
- If Windows doesn’t start and Startup Repair doesn’t work, use System Restore if available
- If neither works and you don’t have a recovery drive, proceed to step 4
-
Reinstall Windows using installation media (USB/DVD)
- On a working PC, download the media creation tool from Microsoft
- Run it and select Create installation media for another PC
- Choose the correct language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit)
- Follow the steps to create a bootable USB drive
- Connect the USB to the nonfunctional PC and boot from it
- Select Repair your computer to re-enter Windows RE from the USB
- If those still fail, continue through setup to perform a clean installation of Windows
-
If reset/refresh options in WinRE fail immediately (corrupted registry hives)
- In WinRE, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt
- Run:
cd %windir%\system32\config ren system system.001 - Type
exitand restart back to the Automatic Repair screen - Go to Troubleshoot > Reset this PC and attempt Keep my files or Remove everything again
-
Data protection
- Before using Remove everything or a full reinstall, back up important files if possible by attaching the drive to another PC or using recovery media plus Command Prompt
If none of the recovery options work and reinstalling from USB still loops back into recovery, the remaining likely causes are severe disk or hardware failure, which require hardware diagnostics and possibly drive replacement.
