Lent fichier explorer sur Windows 11

Explorateur de fichiers sur mon Windows 11 machine is somehow lent when I try to:

  • Navigate entre dossiers

  • Créer nouveau fichiers/dossiers

It takes somehow 5+ seconds afin de respond to any action.

Notes

Je pense there’s no problème in my storage drive (pretty nouveau internal SSD storage, avec SATA connection). Également, when I navigate or créer nouveau fichiers/dossiers on VSCode’s File Explorer, it responds instantly avec no slowness problèmes seen in Explorateur de fichiers.

I’m actuellement using the latest Windows 11 version 22000.593 (released 2022-03-28) avec no nouveau disponible mises à jour not installé yet.

J’ai my Windows 11 installé as a fresh copy (not an upgrade) for 4 months maintenant.

In full-écran (by pressing F11), lag in displaying fichiers/dossiers while navigating is magically ~none. The seulement lag (in full-écran) is when naming fichiers/dossiers, it takes ~3 seconds après I hit Entrez to set a nouveau name for a fichier/dossier and be able to use Fichier explorer in other tasks again (parce que it become ~ freezing during these 3 seconds). When I exit full-écran, lag comes again and becomes noticeable. (Thanks to harrymc for this note)

There’s less noticeable lag for short time après boot (cependant lag exists), and become more severe après using ordinateur for some time. Également, J’ai enough mémoire, 32GB and is 50% used most du time.

Things J’ai essayé avec no help to fix the problème:

  • Disabled Show recently used files in Quick access and Show frequently used folders in Quick access and cleared File Explorer History. (Screenshot)

  • Désactiver many third-party shell extensions using ShellExView

You are experiencing a known bug dans le nouveau utilisateur interface of
Windows 11.
The nouveau Command bar in Explorer is leaking mémoire furiously and
causes explorer to lent down progressively as time passes and more
mémoire is lost.

The test for c’est to use Explorer in full-écran mode by pressing
F11. Cela va return the interface to classical Windows 10,
and will especially supprimez le Command bar and liberate its mémoire.
Si le lag is gone in full-écran mode, ensuite you are a victim of
this mémoire leak bug.

A temporary solution is to redémarrer Explorer therefore returning vers le
situation as après you booted. See the article
How to Restart explorer.exe Process in Windows 10.

A better solution pourrait être to use an Explorer alternative.
For a plethora of choices see the article
14 Alternative File Managers To Replace Windows 10 File Explorer.
My personal favourite is Altap Salamander, but c’est a matter of
personal taste.

In the meantime, keep Windows fully updated.
This bug n’est pas nouveau but Microsoft has not yet fully corrigé it,
although some improvements were done. Microsoft might dans le future
finally get it right…
