Comment get Windows 11 vers ask which app vers use vers ouvrir a fichier tapez ou a link tapez every time, once a par défaut is set? (Or comment réinitialiser a par défaut app?)

When opening a specific fichier (or clicking on a link in a programme) Windows will use the par défaut app, set under Setting > Apps > Par défaut apps.

Je voudrais supprimez le par défaut such that Windows will ask every time.

Once you set any individual par défaut, there seems to be no way to undo seulement that par défaut. From what Je peux tell, the sole option is the nuclear option: reset all par défaut apps.

This option n’est pas the best either. For one, all things browser will revert to Edge. So Je ne peux pas have HTTP links or html fichiers ask me every time maintenant. Aside depuis le browser, zip, image, and txt fichiers have this problème too.

Y a-t-il un regkey Je peux modify to do this?

FWIW: Je sais Je peux clic droit > open avec > XYZ in Explorer. But that ne solve the problème of opening things from inside other applications that adhere vers lese paramètres.

As of Q2 2023 the Registry is the way to reset any individual par défaut application selection.

Vous allez need to Supprimer le registre dossier UserChoice in one du two following locations and ensuite Redémarrer Explorer:

Path for Link Types (URIs)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Associations\UrlAssociations\abcdefg\UserChoice dossier where abcdefg is a URI (e.g.: mailto or https).

Path for Fichier Types (Fichier Extensions)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.XYZ\UserChoice dossier where XYZ is a fichier extension (e.g.: .zip, .png, or .txt).

Steps to “Reset” Defaults

  • Open up the Éditeur du registre

  • Navigate vers le relative above chemin.

  • Supprimer the relative UserChoice dossier.

  • Close the Éditeur du registre

  • Kill & Redémarrer Explorer (in Gestionnaire des tâches) or Reboot the ordinateur (not toujours necessary).

Windows’ Nomenclatures

URIs: are referred to as “link type” in GUI Paramètres and “UrlAssociations” dans le Registry.

Fichier Extensions: are called “fichier type” in GUI Paramètres and “FileExts” dans le Registry.

IMHO

In a future mise à jour, under Apps>Defuault Apps, an option devrait être added to Reset or Ask Every Time for an individual selection, depuis a Reset all par défaut apps exists as on option. Any non-power utilisateur would have to wipe all their paramètres just to reset a single one.
