Edit re Windows 11: I’m changing over to a ordinateur avec Windows 11, so J’ai besoin de answer the same question again for that. Je n’ai pas repeated all the in-depth research, but ici’s what J’ai trouvé for Windows 11:

DOS command
net user
and Windows
Computer Management > System Tools > Local Users and Groups > Users
encore show the guest compte. In the latter, it encore has the property “Compte is désactivé”.

Control Panel > User Accounts
no longer has
Manage Accounts
, so Je ne vois pas where to see anything about a guest compte in
Control Panel
.

The MS documentation Guidance for accounts on shared PCs a été updated to say it applies to Windows 11.

BUT the page no longer says “We recommend no local admin comptes sur le [shared] PC to improve the reliability and sécurité du PC.”

Parce que du last point above, Je ne sais pas what to think. The doc a été updated to apply to Windows 11, but the most crucial piece of official advice not to use a guest compte a été supprimé. Argh! So although it serait helpful to have a guest compte on this nouveau ordinateur, I’m going to continue to not have one.

If anyone knows any better about what’s going on with this in Windows 11, veuillez post a comment or answer about it.

The short answer:

Il y a un guest compte in Windows 10, but c’est not suitable for use on a standalone ordinateur.

In other words:

If your computer n’est pas part of a network, then no, you cannot have a guest account.

The long answer:

As of Windows 10 v 1607, the guest compte became part du configuration of “shared PC mode” [Microsoft, TechTarget, Windows Club]. That mode is a complex configuration intended for IT professionals to set up ordinateurs dedicated to shared use. Ce n’est pas suitable for a standalone ordinateur whose owner wants to allow occasional guest use. That’s parce que a standalone ordinateur needs to have a local administrator compte, and local administrator comptes ne sont pas recommended for ordinateurs set up for shared use, which is qu’est-ce que maintenant needed to have a properly configuré guest compte. (See MS documentation, Guidance for accounts on shared PCs, which says “We recommend no local admin comptes sur le [shared] PC to improve the reliability and sécurité du PC.”)

The bottom line:

Owners of standalone Windows 10 ordinateurs who want to set up a guest compte to maintain sécurité when allowing a friend to use their ordinateur are out of luck.

Ici are some more details about the status du guest compte on a standalone ordinateur:

Après v 1607, the guest compte encore exists, but is désactivé. C’est included dans le list of comptes obtained by:

DOS command
net user

“Ordinateur Management > Système Tools > Local Users and Groups > Users”

Avant v 1607, there were four ways to enable the guest account:

Allez à “Panneau de configuration > Utilisateur Accounts > Manage Accounts > Guest”. Sélectionnez “Turn on”.

Allez à “Local Stratégie de groupe Editor (GPedit.msc) > Stratégie de l’ordinateur local > Configuration ordinateur > Windows Paramètres > Sécurité Paramètres > Local Policies > Sécurité Options > Accounts: Guest compte status > Properties”. Click “Enabled”.

In DOS as admin, enter
net user guest /active:yes
.

Allez à “Ordinateur Management > Système Tools > Local Users and Groups > Users > Guest > Properties”. Uncheck “Compte is désactivé”.

As of v 1903, the first method was/is no longer possible parce que “Manage Accounts” ne show the compte “Guest”. The other three methods were/are possible to execute, but it a été reported that doing so either has no effect or causes serious système malfunctions [Digital Citizen, SuperUser comment, SuperUser answer, SuperUser comment].

J’ai trouvé a SuperUser answer starting avec, “Ici’s what I did on Windows 10 to provide a utilisateur login for some visiting guests.” I did what it said, and got access errors.

(Note about the previous link: Ceci est to a question I posted on SuperUser about the problème. It was “supprimé” après a few months parce que it had a downvote and no answer. Ce n’est pas en fait supprimé, but is hidden from most people. Il y a un mechanism to undelete it si cela is deemed worth keeping alive. So it serait good if some people who have the right authority would take a look and see if that link ought to be allowed to work.)
