If you want to continue using it safely, then the battery needs to be removed or replaced. Replacing the battery isn't terribly difficult, but if you have not done a similar repair before then you are likely to cause irreparable damage on your first attempt. Simply removing the battery is easier, but then you'll have a laptop that only works when it's plugged in (better than one with a bloated battery, though).<br/>

If you don't want to keep using it then you can recycle it somewhere where damaged rechargeable batteries are accepted. Or if you're able to remove the battery safely, you could resell the rest to someone else who wants to fix it or use it for parts.</t>
