ayi am going to buy Microsoft Word standalone this year but would like to know if it's possible to delete Word from my Mac when it reaches it's warranty date?
ayi Yes, you can delete it at any time. There is no reason whatsoever to delete old versions of MS Office. I know people who are still using Office 2003 on Windows machines and Office 2004 on Macs because they absolutely totally hate the Ribbon. The old versions are unsupported, and MS yaps about ‘security problems’, but if you don’t do silly stuff you’re safe enough. Especially if you have good antimalware. Note that on Macs you are much less likely to be targeted by malware than on Windows; roughly 99.something percent of all malware is for Windows, about 0.3% is for Android, and about 0.3% is for EVERY OTHER OS COMBINED. The primary threat to MS Office on Macs is macroviruses, and almost all macroviruses are aimed at Windows (you’d be surprised how many macroviruses won’t work if they can’t locate the C:\ drive…) which means that if you don’t click on random Office files downloaded from the Internet or from your email (‘Hi! This is your invoice from company you never heard of before for product or service you don’t remember ordering, click here!’) you’re safe enough. There is no ‘warranty date’. MS Office for Windows is NOT the same as MS Office for Mac. There are major differences.
