We are trying to move tous our websites we host to CNAMES as we are planning on moving servers in le nouveau year et would like le ability to move certains clients to one server et autre clients somewhere else. We were planning on giving clients a unique CNAME qui we can alors change at a later date. (Nous avons autre reasons for doing this now mais that is le main one)
Nous avons been testing out this theory avec a peu de of our own domains et it seemed to be fine. However quand checking le MX records on a domain I got le CNAME value back plutôt than le MX record.
Sadly tous of these domains are done via control panels, mais Je suis guessing they are juste writing zone files for me.
Je veux to create 2 CNAMEs for le company.com
company.com. IN CNAME client.dns.ourserver.com
www IN CNAME client.dns.ourserver.com
The MX record is something like le following:
company.com IN MX 10 mail.company.com
Nous avons an A record for mail.company.com
Doing:
host -t mx company.com
Returns le CNAME value plutôt than le mx record.
Is this expected behaviour?
J'ai managed to get le ci-dessus configuration working avec le 123-reg.co.uk control panel, mais pas sure si that is more luck than anything.
