So its a bummer, I like having weather on my lockscreen - but really hate the notion of stock prices.. I had a similar issue with Google on my android, kept getting rid of stock prices and it then just offered other stock prices until in eventually learned.
Continued rant though - its always just US stock market prices. Don't they realise the rest of the world either completely doesn't care, or that they don't have 401ks and worry about individual stock, let alone that if they do have stocks it might be on other stockmarkets.
I just find it so annoying its a feature that is just injected into every widget and news source as a default.
