The full message should be "YOur pc ran into a problem. WE'LL RESTart it for you". So in theory its possible this is real.
Open up Event Viewer, and on the left tabs select System. This will show you a log of events, scroll back until the time of this event and it will tell you what caused it. Could be hardware, could be software, no way to know until you check the logs.
