<p>Here is a possible workaround for the issue.</p>
<p>There have been <em>numerous</em> issues with 24H2, as listed by <a href="https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-24h2">Microsoft</a>, by <a href="https://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-11-24h2s-wild-ride-some-fixes-are-in-but-other-bugs-still-linger/">ZDNET</a>, by <a href="https://www.heise.de/en/news/Windows-11-24H2-update-problems-Microsoft-gives-up-on-finding-a-solution-10275962.html">heise</a>, by <a href="https://www.techradar.com/computing/windows/im-absolutely-sick-of-microsofts-windows-11-24h2-update-as-its-now-causing-bluetooth-and-webcam-issues">techradar</a>, by <a href="https://www.xda-developers.com/windows-11-24h2-rollout-stops-again/">xda</a> and elsewhere.</p>
<p>However, one can run a virtual machine (VM) under 24H2, such as <a href="https://www.virtualbox.org/">Oracle VirtualBox (VB)</a> and <a href="https://alternativeto.net/software/virtualbox/">alternatives</a>. Some, such as VB, are free for personal use. One can <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10">download the Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft</a> and use it to make a Win 10 virtual machine running on that PC.</p>
<p>The Windows 10 VM can be used to <a href="https://www.net-usb.com/virtual-usb/virtualbox-usb-passthrough/virtualbox-printer/">print from a USB-connected printer</a>. or <a href="https://www.flexihub.com/usb-in-virtual-machine/virtualbox-usb-passthrough/virtualbox-printer/">from a network-connected printer</a>, or <a href="https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?t=100056">from a WiFi-connected printer</a>. Another choice would be a Linux VM.</p>
<p>Admittedly, I do not know if this will work going through Windows 24H2, but it’s worth a try, rather than forcing said user to buy another printer. BTW, I’m using Windows 10 on this PC, dual-booted with Linux, and <em>both</em> are able to access all my hardware. Since I support six PC’s that are all working well <em>but unable to run Win 11</em>, it’s an easy decision to drop Win 10, at EOL, in favor of Linux.</p>
